Are Gucci Handbags Worth The Money?

By Lee MacRae

The latest in fashion rage is designer handbags. Just about everyone like your sister or your podiatrists wants a handbag by Beijo. But since we know designer handbags are usually very expensive, the question that we have to ask is, are we spending our money wisely?

It's obvious that most people around the country today work very hard for their money. They want to know if a purse or bag by Celine is worth the money. Will it last. The short answer is, yes they are worth. And why is that true?

Because designer handbag are usually made from the finest materials. A leather handbag made by Celine or Roxy will use top grade leather that is supple, beautiful and long lasting. Yes, as they say, you will be paying for the name but you will also be paying for fine quality. And how can you be definitely sure?

Want a hint to know what you're getting? Top designer handbags will always have a fine lining material inside. Cheaper handbags will not. Makers of lower grade products look for every possible way to keep costs down. As a result, you will find cheaper linings and even cheaper hardware. Avoid these like the plague. Full-grain leather is made from the finest natural hides with no imperfections. Top grain leather's are extremely long wearing. It is extremely durable and over years of use, it darkens to its full beautiful patina in various stages. The skins of young cattle are usually used for full grain handbags and are prized for their smooth texture and fine quality.

So is it worth it to purchase a leather bag or purse made by Cole Haan or Kate Spade? Without a doubt. You'll be purchasing a fine quality handbag or purse that will make a real fashion statement with your outfit.

Hints About gucci evening dresses

The higher end shops that sell Coach pocket books at full price send their out-of-season purses to the Coach outlet. The reason for this is because the larger store generally has a high profit count. In order to make a good profit, they have to send their clearance merchandise on to a Coach outlet in order to free up more floor space for the current styles.

Use bright colours wisely. Since classic browns, beiges and charcoal greys look good on everyone, she suggests bright splashes of colour as underpinnings to an outfit. Wear a rich magenta or deep blue camisole under a dark grey suit jacket to spice up your look without going over the top.

While haute couture is no longer the bread-and-butter of a company, the term is protected by law and defined by the Chambre de commerce et d'industrie de Paris. Their rules state that only "those companies mentioned on the list drawn up each year by a commission domiciled at the Ministry for Industry are entitled to avail themselves" of the label haute couture.

Shop for colors that fit fall

Summer sales racks make us impossibly giddy, and with the retail market slumping this year, that enticing rack of marked-down clothes is bigger than ever. But rather than completely give in to our senses and grab hold of that $30 yellow blouse (the one that won't see more than another month of daylight), why not make your money go further by looking for clothes that can be parlayed into fall?

Textile artist Susie Freeman and practising GP Dr Liz Lee, are an unlikely twosome for an artistic collaboration. More unusual is the work they create - clothes that seem fluffy and frivolous but actually draw attention to medical matters.

Susie Freeman and Liz Lee are old school friends and Susie explains how their collaboration developed: 'We chat like all women do. Liz was very interested in family planning, and wanted to raise awareness of contraceptive methods available.' Around the same time, a U.S. gallery which sold Susie's work, commissioned one of her textile garments decorated with pills. Susie hadn't made such a piece but the mistaken request sparked an idea - combine Susie's dramatic fabrics with Liz's medical objectives.

Their idea, which they called Inside Out, won them a Sci-Art Award in 1998 - a grants scheme sponsored by the Wellcome Trust encouraging collaborations between scientists and artists. This set them on the path of 'drawing attention to medical decisions that people make', enabling Susie and Liz 'to express the thought processes and emotions involved when patients make decisions about medical treatment.' ...

Susie Freeman's and Dr Liz Lee's work can be viewed at: Contemporary Applied Arts, 2 Percy Street, London W1P 9FA (enquiries call 020 7436 2344) and from 19 July - 27 August at Fact, Fantasy and Pharmacopoeia, MAC, Cannon Hill Park, Birmingham B12 9QH (enquiries: 0121 440 3838). fashionUK]
